As professional fashion consultant, I’m always on the hunt for wardrobe pieces that are both stylish AND budget-friendly. I thought I would share a monthly round up here, starting with these shopping finds under $100 that I purchased in the month of August. Some of these items are closet staples, while others have more seasonal appeal. Regardless, they are ones that I would definitely purchase again.
The closet staples
My husband teases me every time I get ready for a closet edit appointment with the following refrain: “Are you wearing your uniform?” Said uniform is simple, polished, and most importantly, comfortable. I wear what I consider to be the best fitting tee on the market and a pair of slim fitting trousers, both in black, of course. I always add both pieces to clients’ shopping lists and yes, they come in other colors.
The perfect city flats
I’m generally more of a flip flop girl in the summer, but who wants to wear them in big (dirty) cities like Rome or London where I spent a good part of the season? These pretty Mary Janes were perfect for the sizzling temperatures and elevated every outfit I wore them with. I bought them in white and black, but they come in lots of other colors. I’ve already ordered an extra pair of the white ones for next year!
The statement accessories
I’m a sucker for a great pair of sunnies and am loving the 90’s inspired frames that seem to be making a comeback. These beauties give serious CBK vibes, and were probably my most-worn style of the summer.
And who doesn’t love wearing a badass, oversized men’s watch? I was having the hardest time figuring out what to do with my new Apple watch (truth be told, I hate the look) until I came across this watchband. It will just have to do until I can replace my husband’s stolen Rolex.
The travel gear
When you spend as much time living out of suitcases as I do, it’s important to have the right packing gear. This cosmetic bag was a life changer for me. It has a deceptively roomy interior (I can fit all of my cosmetics and skin care products in it) while being compact enough when zipped not to take up too much space.
Finally, there is a reason that this L.L. Bean tote bag is so iconic. Beyond it’s sturdy construction and signature design that is constantly being reinterpreted (like this), it’s versatility is unmatched. I have one in almost every size and use them for everything from carrying tennis rackets, to groceries, to beach towels. The latest addition to my collection is the medium size version in all white which has basically become my everyday bag.
I’ll try to share more shopping finds under $100 here in the future. Let me know what you think of these, and if there is anything special you’d like me to look for.
