As a professional fashion consultant, I arrive prepared for any eventuality when I meet with clients or models for a fitting or a photo shoot. Unsightly wrinkles, stains, pet hair and last minute tailoring blunders are no match for the tools in my bag! You don’t need a pro to tell you that wardrobe mishaps can occur at the most inconvenient times. However, if you want to know how to handle them like one, here are ten styling tools that will change your life.
You Need Tools To Prep Like A Pro
I do many things to prep for appointments, but making sure that I have these items in my bag before running out the door is a top priority. I also usually have most of them on hand for personal use when I travel. Here is a list of ten styling tools you need in your closet (and in your luggage) to deal with minor wardrobe malfunctions without missing a beat.
My top ten styling tools
- Fabric steamer. There are lots of different sizes and they come with or without a stand like this one. I like to use this one for appointments, but I also have this smaller version for personal travel.
- AntiStatic spray. Nothing worse than clingy garments. I always have this travel sized spray on hand.
- Stain remover. This little wand is easy to transport and perfect for spot cleaning.
- Lint roller. I like to have one of these at the ready for pesky pet hairs or other unwanted fuzz.
- Safety pins. A box like this one with different sizes is ideal.
- Double sided tape. These strips are fantastic for last minute hems and to hold fabric in place in sensitive areas like a lady’s décolletage.
- Sewing Kit. You never know when you will need one of these to sew a button back on or mend a small tear.
- Clips for bra straps. These avoid the unwanted strap from showing.
- Dress Cinch Clips. These double sided clips are perfect for tailoring without sewing needles.
- Nipple covers. These will prevent the dreaded nip slip.
I hope you find this list helpful. If you are looking for a professional wardrobe consultant for a style update or overhaul, or if you need some help preparing for a special occasion or upcoming trip, reach out to me here.
